Hi Curt,

thank you very much for this great event.
Unfortunately my hardware forced me to be a spectator (due to thermal
problems my notebook throttles down after some minutes of flightgear; I
need to clean the cooling system again. And I am thinking about buying a
new computer).

What could help us with such competitions would be an client, which
assists in the time-recording. Like a state machine, which responds on
chat-messages and has a state for every mp-aircraft. With a chat message
like "competition" the state of a mp-player changes to a new state,
which checks for "groundspeed < 1 kts". The next state could be
"groundspeed > 10 kts" (with time stamp). The next state could be
"groundspeed < 1 kts", with reporting of the difference to the last time
stamp.
This can be enhanced witch checks for positions, additional messages,
checks for aircraft-type, checks for plausibility of speed and
acceleration, checks for orientation, additional scoring (penalties),
included web-server with "best of day, best of week, best of ever"
grouped by aircraft. All this for several competitions, activated by
different chat-messages of the competitor. With such a system the todays
events could be rated very easy. And events like the red bull racing or
reno air racing could be possible.

Anyone interested in coding such a client?

And I like Hans idea of Fly Ins (with basic ATC?) (and with sight seeing
tours...)

Maik
