A few more opportunities for improvement:

37:: Documentation: As of rc2, data/Docs/FGShortRef.pdf is in dire
need of an update. It bears a 2005 date, and internally refers to
version 0.8.0. For example, it thinks the "space" key (not the "s"
 key) runs the starter.

38:: Documentation: As of rc2, I'm pretty sure data/Docs/getstart.pdf
needs to be updated in some place.

For example, I see instructions for downloading scenery, but they
don't mention the 1.0.1 scenery or where to find it. IMHO this is
 release-critical.

Also: Have "release notes" been prepared to go with the new release?

39:: Scenery: As of rc2, fgfs is properly defensive about the "base
package version" but AFAICT that does not cover the scenery files,
which are often downloaded separately. Bad scenery files can lead to
strange, hard-to-diagnose bugs. Suggestion: Each and every scenery
file should contain a version number that is both machine-readable
and human-readable. Hint: see the unix man pages for file(1) and
magic(5). At every opportunity, fgfs should check the version
 numbers on these files.

40:: Scenery servers: Question: Has anybody thought about the demand
for downloads that will be generated by a new release, especially one
that requires new scenery? Have the servers and mirrors been sized
 appropriately?
