..the issue here is legal, GPL files _cannot_ be "converted" to any 
BSD license, that would be a copyright violation, "software piracy." 

..going the oposite way, BSD->GPL is often possible, exactly because 
the BSD licenses are less restricitive than the GPL licenses.

..correct, if you lose "probably" to say "But then it would 
still be under the GPL license."

..of course if you yourself wrote or bought and owns the file in
question, you also decide under which licenses you publish it.
