Hi Mick, Are you experiencing some specific errors?
If not, I would not worry about it. Make sure you have a video card that supports OpenGL. You should make sure you have the latest driver for it as well. In all 100 or so Wintel installs I have done I have never had a problem with the items the guide references. You should download the Win32 executable from FlightGear - it is the easiest way to install on Windows. I have a rudimentry install guide - but it is more for the PC Clueless, i.e. Click Next, etc. FlightGear should be a relatively painless, simple install on Windows.
