Hi, Although I don't use XP (I use 98SE) I've found that other processes can
cause a large hit in the FPS. I kill everything except Systray and Explorer
through the task manager.
I suggest you start killing processes and seeing if any in particular cause
an improvement.

Another thought that just occurred to me - perhaps you have quite
aggressive
settings for Antialiasing etc? Under Linux one uses the "nvidia-settings"
tool to adjust these... I'm sure you can find the equivalent under Windows
and make sure they're not set to anything too drastic. Temporarily turning
off AA would help confirm that this is not contributing to your fps
problem.
