this is just a "trick" to stop this worse stuttering. After I changed from Win XP to Linux last year I had an unbelievable higher framerate (140/150 frames/sec) but very bad stuttering effects. I found out at that time that I had to do it the other way under Linux - "braking" FG by selecting "VSync on" and getting a fluendly running sim. If I remember right - haven't run FlightGear under Windows since last August/September - this was *only* a problem with Linux. The higher you can set the refresh-rate of your CRT/display the faster FG runs at maximum speed. As I am curious whether this is really only a Linux problem I will test it on Sunday with my WinXP install (I have still dual boot as my printer-port scanner has no driver under Linux) and report about it.
