That should be good enough for me - i wouldn't use Google Earth as primary display but only in cases where i'm having troubles figuring out where i am, especially while flying a circuit. However, it might be a better solution if i'm just adding a few more landmarks for the FG scenary :-) FGmap is very helpfull for finding the circuit, in deed, but it acts more like a GPS device, so it's actually not VFR *g*. With GE, i guess you could somewhat "emulate the pilot view ...
