Brian, you're not the only 1. A few years back I was working with 0.9.6 which
had the
same problem. Recently I installed 0.9.10 which does this too. In most cases
the sim
starts with full power, elevator full down, ailerons for a full left turn and
rudder to the
right. In combination with the torque effect this will make it hard to get off
because also
the planes are NOT on the brakes, with 1 or 2 exceptions. I flew 0.9.6 on a
stick, this
one on the keyboard. Ron already suggested to add a line to some files to have
at least
the brakes on but a centered control would certainly be an advantage, plus a
zero
throttle.
This btw is not the only prob I'm encountering. I tried the Citation Bravo,
which comes
with a nice panel but won't respond to any AP input. Well, flying a Citation
could be nice
but imho it would certainly add to the fun if I could get it to listen to at
least a heading
mode, alt mode and NAV mode. But mine won't. This happens with more of the
available a/c from the default versions.
The MAJOR prob I'm encountering with FG (both versions) is that after flying
for some
extended time (an hour or more, and this goes for ANY plane), FG drops back to
framerates below 10 at ever increasing times, whereas I normally get around 30.
Which
in turn makes using FG for longer flights just a pain in the neck. Sadly,
because I think it
could be the ultimate sim. Scenery is perfect, night lighting is unsurpassed.
I'm not a
MS FS man, but I've been running Propilot-99 and Fly! plus Fly!-II for years
and I still
run them basicly because FG thusfar has been no match in flying. FWIW, I'm
using an
Athlon 2200 64 bit, gfx is an older Geforce MX440, 1 Gig of RAM, OS Win 2K with
all
SP's. Fly gives me continuous framerates of between 30 and 54, also after
flying for 10
hrs. So what is it?

Louis
