Thanks. That really helps as I now have discovered my Saitek Cyborg EVO
Force always wants to start with 50% throttle - even in control panel
calibration. If I open the calibration throttle will be at 50% - move
the throttle or even just wiggle the joystick and it auto calibrates and
realizes throttle is at zero.

I found this through the H and Browse Internal properties. When I
started Flightgear I had 50% throttle. So in addition to the Parking
Brake property I was told about I tried adding a property for

/controls/engines/engine/throttle=0
and
/controls/engines/engine/throttle[0]=0

but still when I would start Flightgear, the HUD and Properties would
show 50% throttle. Wiggle the joystick - it auto calibrates and
throttle drops to zero as it should be and then I can accelerate from
there after removing the parking brake.

Dang joystick - I found on their forums the throttle is normal - cannot
imagine why until it auto calibrates it starts at 50% but I also found
out it has (sometimes for some users) a left rudder issue as well.

Thanks both of you for the assistance. Got me in the right direction
and I have a work around.
