Hi there, Thanks Geoff, like the contrasts page! Thought I'd do a comparison image...
http://blobster.50webs.com/ybbn-comparison.jpg Its beginning to look more homely. Much to do yet however, as I've found some decent shapefiles on the net that will let me vastly improve the roads, rail, rivers, plus urban areas, as Brisbane is actually much bigger than the fg scenery would have you believe. QGIS is my GIS software of choice for such work. Curiously, despite some preliminary work on fixing the river layout (many more points in the shapefile now), and the more complex airport layout, the terrain tile folder containing the bulk of the work I've done has shrunk 10-12% - I'm not complaining, as it makes for quicker upload/download, just a little (actually, a lot) surprised... :-) The to-do list is now... - Tidy up some errant taxiway segments in taxidraw - Change aprons (maybe t'ways?) to concrete not asphalt - Replace/amend road/rail/stream/urban/lake with free data I found - Tidy up some landcover shapefiles, especially around the airport - Throw a heap more hangar & airport models around YBBN airport - Package it all up - Hope it isn't going to be half a data-center sized download... :-) The building textures gobble a lot of disk space (2048x2048 png's). I hope to reduce that by using materials instead of textures, although I'm unsure just what materials ac3d format can use out of Blender, and what fg/osg will allow to be rendered in realtime. No guarantees of a file for download just yet - all this is secondary to me finding a job currently, so job hunt comes first, then fg - I know thats wrong but sorry, gotta eat! :-) Onward... And look forward to more as you progress on your 'work' list ;=)) Regards, Geoff. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ OpenSolaris 2009.06 is a cutting edge operating system for enterprises looking to deploy the next generation of Solaris that includes the latest innovations from Sun and the OpenSource community.
