For what it's worth, I've triggered Fl_Gl_Window overlays from a timer in the past, and attained high frame rates, so it certainly *can* work OK, and I have a number of things that do (non-GL) animations using FL timers that also work, and give the expected frame rates, so I think the timers are good, and that triggering GL window redraws at high rates is feasible.
Somewhere I had a hacked up version of the gears demo, reworked to use fltk and all that, which used timers and stuff, that we used way back when to investigate a bug we had in redrawing a FGL window... Hmm, can't find it, I wonder where I put it... Anyway, even on fairly basic h/w it was running at well over 60 FPS, so should be OK I think. -- Ian SELEX Galileo Ltd Registered Office: Sigma House, Christopher Martin Road, Basildon, Essex SS14 3EL A company registered in England & Wales.
