It seems to me like your event management is somehow messed up. This is either in your code, or somewhere in the x11 server that you are using. It would help tremendously if you could sen us some minimal code which exhibits the bad behavior which we can compile and test.
If the problem can be fixed by adding Fl::flush() calls after changes in th UI, then one of the reasons above os to blame.
