Not correct, Justin. Phil Katz, the inventor of the .ZIP format, published the format almost immediately. It was stable, open, and fully published. In fact, that is how WinZip began. (They now dominate over Katz' own company, PKWare, makers of PKZip.) Phil Katz passed away in 2000. Since then, both companies have, for the first time, independently altered their .ZIP format. PKWare published their format changes. WinZip has not. This means that compatibility between the two can be a problem, and complicates Linux/Mac/*nix inter-operability with Windows. -- Gary -- To unsubscribe: send an email to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> FMPexperts is hosted by Ironclad Networks <http://www.ironclad.net.au/>
