Jane-

Open up Norton Antivirus, and check that you have the latest virus
definitions (Nov. 24, 2001). If not, download them. Then check to see if
you have anything in the NAV Quarantine - if you do, you can double-click
on the Quarantine line to open the Quarantine Console, which will show you
the quarantined files. See if your Badtrans virus file is there, and if it
is delete it. (This would mean that NAV did its job and intercepted the virus.

Now run a full virus scan of your hard drive. If no viruses are found,
you're all set. If you get a message that files are infected, specifically
the files c:\windows\system\kdll.dll and c:\windows\system\kernel32.exe,
then your computer is infected with Badtrans. You'll need to restart your
computer in DOS mode to delete these 2 files, and also delete a key in the
Windows Registry. Call me and we'll figure out the easiest way to get this
done.
