Cynthia-

One of the problems with these utilities that get down into the guts of
Windows is that they do not always install or run smoothly, for reasons
which are pretty hard for us laypeople to understand. I've had good luck
using Symantec's on-line support system, including their E-mail
support. Sometimes I've had to go back and forth a few time, but I've
always eventually resolved the problem.

A few comments on Systemworks - IMHO, the only pieces that are worth
running are the Antivirus and Norton Utilities components. I do not use
the "1-button check-up," or any of the monitoring features that run all the
time - Crash Guard, Smart Sweep/Internet Sweep, etc. My sense is that
having this stuff running in the background all the time causes as many
problems as it solves.

As for your version of Internet Explorer, I don't know if you need to
update just to install Systemworks, but IE 4 and IE 5, along with their
versions of Outlook Express, have unpatched security holes. If you ever
use IE as your browser, or use Outlook Express for mail, I'd recommend
updating. I don't think the IE 6 download is any bigger than the IE 5.5,
and it will be supported longer by Microsoft. I don't know what to do
about the address book sharing issue you mention - you may be able to get
some advice on this from Woody's Office Lounge (www.wopr.com).

Good luck,

Jon
