Hi,

As an engineer / hobbyist, I have been waiting for the final release of the
STEPS projet to communicate about it in my home country / language, both to
foster interest and open up perspectives for the public.

I am glad to hear that the eventual release would not be 'final' but I am
still expecting for a release anyhow.

Some sort of source snapshot would allow an hobbyist like me to contribute
packaging and practical documentation.

I was considering the packaging of Frank in a virtual machine image, and
the recording of a video demo / howto in youtube.

If this work is successful and gather interest, maybe we could try to get
space for an article in some development magazine, setup demos in free
software technical conferences, etc..

I would like community projects and scientific research to help each
others. Is there any issue of intellectual property which may prevent this
? My uninformed opinion was that NSF funds mandated public release of all
software part of the funded research.
