Here's some comment from a (potential) user of FOP:

1. I would appreciate it very much if the current version is supported
at least until such time when the new version is at a point where we can
point to it and say 'use the new version'.

2. I would appreciate it very much if the new design is discussed on
this mailing list.  The mailing list archive can then serve as an
informal repository of the process.  This can also make the mailing list
livelier.

3. I would appreciate it very much if the Apache process is followed as
far as cansensus building and decision making is concerned.  The help of
an non FOP Apache person may be needed to clarify things.

4. I would appriciate it very much if the scope of the new architecture
design/refactoring is agreed upon quickly by the committers.

5. I would appreciate it very much if the new design progresses in a
timely fashion.  People with more time to spend on the project needs to
make more decisions.  People who make decisions needs to spend more time
on the project.  The project needs to project an image of being 'on
track'.  The project needs to attract more active developers.

And many thanks for all the developers for your effort on this open
source project.
