Hey again, I don't know why I convinced myself that Times was the default font??
Well, I switched to helvetica and yes, printing directly looks good (like preview
and PDF does).

But is it possible to use any other fonts than Helvetica (f.x. Times New Roman)
without having to define entries in userconfig.xml ?

I too made a user configured font work, sorry if that wasn't clear.

Yes, sorry ... I wasn't very specific. The issue is that I've specified Times (as
shown in XSL-FO sample above) as font-family. Now some of my cells have either
bold or italic font face. This makes the text in the cells, become of font-family
Helvetica (I now realizes that it falls back to default font) but it seems that
text location is not done using Helvetica fontmetrics - at least the text in the
bold/italic cells are misplaced, so that the text overlaps the cell-border - the
text is pushed a bit right as if the text location is based in the font being
regular Times New Roman, but in fact FOP inserts Helvetica bold (but that's a guess
on my behalf).

So short question is, can I use any other fonts than Helvetica without having to
create custom config ??

If not, that brings me to a licensing issue - I assume that I can't (without violating)
licenses of Monotype redistribute the TTF files (and generated metrics files) for Times
New Roman?
But if my application/FOP generates/uses these files on the platform on which it is
installed - does this violate licenses ?
