carbonize: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The main problem I see with this is how to implement it. I know the suggestion was to wait 0.5 seconds but then that would be to quick for some so Jan would also have to put in an option for the waiting period. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Actually, a better option was suggested - copying whenever the shift key or left mouse button was released. No timing delay required at all. When I used to code on UNIX machines using XEmacs via the twm window manager, a similar behaviour to this was quite normal and intuitive. There, selections are automatically copied to the clipboard and could be pasted into any window via the middle mouse button. I agree that most of the time people select text in order to replace it but I think this suggestion is sensible for the times when a user opens a selection of text files to do simple copy/paste operations or has background programs running that monitor the clipboard. Here, it frees the user from the need to use (or even posses) a keyboard. However, I don't think it should be a feature for PSPad as there is already a Unix-style mouse emulator that simulates that behaviour. Just Google for True X Mouse (http://www.google.co.uk/search?complete=1&hl=en&q=true+x+mouse) and give it a try. Note though that it will also emulate the other Unix behaviour of focusing windows as soon as you hover over them, without the need to click in the window. -- <http://forum.pspad.com/read.php?2,29097,39584> PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
