You cannot force a number for subvendor ID either, since there are
"certification authorities" that require this to differentiate various
vendor implementations when there is a distinction.  Vndor/Device/Rev ID's
are all device vendor specific, so you are really only left with Class
code/programming interface, plus putting a Spec-ID field into the
memory-mapped space.  MKE.

I was commenting on this point as the way to decode the different
transport layer.  I am sorry if I was not clear about it.
I agree that forcing "1841h" is an issue and really can not be imposed in
the primary vender space, however there is no reason it could not be
suggested to be the value in the sub-vender space.
