That approach would make the IDENTIFY DEVICE vs. IDENTIFY PACKET DEVICE command selection indeterminate. PM 1.1: Port multipliers use 69h/96h. SATA II 1.2: SEMB (currently attached) use 3Ch/C3h. SATA II 1.2: SEMB (currently not attached) use FFh/FFh. ATA/ATAPI-7: ATA devices 00h/00h ATA/ATAPI-7: ATAPI devices use 1Bh/EBh SATA devices use 00h/00h, the same as parallel ATA. SATAPI should use 1Bh/EBh, the same as parallel ATAPI. > Now, it is <another> question to ask if that is proper or not, > which I leave for someone else to answer. > > Thank You !!! > ----------------------------------------------------------------- > Jim Hatfield > ATA Interface Firmware & T13 (ATA/ATAPI) Standards Representative > Seagate Technology LLC > e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > s-mail: 389 Disc Drive; Longmont, CO 80503 USA > voice: 720-684-2120 > fax....: 720-684-2711 > ==================================================== > > |---------+----------------------------> > | | "Elliott, Robert | > | | (Server Storage)"| > | | <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> | > | | No Phone Info | > | | Available | > | | | > | | 10/04/2004 02:54 | > | | PM | > | | | > |---------+----------------------------> > | > | To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > | cc: > | Subject: RE: [t13] Documents posted > > > Regarding e04127r0, there was a thread on the T13 reflector > back in May > 2003 titled "Serial ATA signature change from 1.0a to > ATA/ATAPI-7 v1r2" > that noticed the problem and (I thought) agreed to resolve it. > Unfortunately it was apparently never fixed.
