I think I may have discovered the issue... I'm reading the 'log' information, which is this odd formatted binary info. It looks like in order to actually get the raw binary I have to connect via the serial like you suggested, however that is impossible in my case since that port is in active use by someone else.. plus I don't actually have physical access to it!
