Great Sagun and Ekta, for your wonderful understanding about FOSSism. As Mr. Abhinandan from UMN at Migration workshp at St. Xaviers' had said "There is nothing like COMPLETE Migration" when he was talking about the email client category, and I do agree with him in a way. I think there always lies a line of boundary. You can increase the domain of Free and Open Source Software with your positive contribution and support, but that won't necessarily mean that you will be completely wiping out the existence of the other. Infact this is about users' choice and Freedom. What i would re-enforce is that there is a strong need for building your own strength and support to the users who are motivated to exercise their freedom.
So, Sagun, you idea of FOSS business model for Nepal is very timely and extremely important. FOSS Nepal could be a good place to sow seed for these initiatives. And we can see that there will be many opportunities. Even Incubation projects like Fortune Cookie Ventures Pvt Ltd launched to develop ICT sector Refer: (http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg00930.html) would be one good possibilities. Just as a next strategy, why not FOSS Nepal joins hands with training institute like Computer point and others which provides Linux training to plan out something really concrete business model??
