Dear Bibek,
The answer to the first question is (b). I don't get time to read
all mails. I read those which sounds interesting to me. I tend to listen to
threads related to planning, administration, technical problems etc an this
forms about 75%-80% of the whole mailing list. Yeah I do reply to threads,
and even start new threads whenever i feel necessary. In my opinion, we need
to prepare a set of etiquettes that will lead to a managed posting
experience. Moreover we must request the posters for a rational posting
scheme (what I can see is that many posting neglect the assumptions of the
working methodology of a community and tend to be individualistic in
contrast to a consensus approach). We also need to encourage users to be
active in the mailing list, irc meeting should be made frequent. This will
introduce a participatory apporach and the users won't feel neglected.
