The distros I've mentioned above is a LXDE favor. Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment (LXDE) is a completely new Desktop Environment. For information check out http://lxde.org/ . It is somewhat KDE like in look.
Linux Mint 9 (Isadora) Fluxbox is a better choice to start with as it is user-friendly and includes a variety of plugins and codecs installed by default. Hope you enjoy the distro...
