i accidentally chose to format the hard drive(excluding the drive with windows in it). As soon as i realized the mistake, i ejected the boot disk. The format had just started when i did so. Now, i cant boot windows. I put the ubuntu installation disc in and when i explore the filesystem it said the error that is posted. now, when i boot the system without the cd, it shows the acer logo(thats my laptop vendor) for a couple of seconds and then there's this black screen with a blinking cursor on the top left. nothing happens. when i press the shutdown button, it shuts down instantly. i can load the cd and run ubuntu from it though. i tried the terminal command that you posted and rebooted, still it didnt work..
