In other SCMs, if I do this: $ cd B $ darcs init $ darcs pull ../A I am creating a new branch "B", separate, and independent of A. Ditto for Hg, Git and Bazaar. As I said earlier, I think you misunderstand how the SCMs you criticize actually work. So you are seeing problems that don't exist.
