+1 (several times) Shameless plug: because of this very issue i ended up writing a wiki-agnostic wiki manager which has replaced several of my larger fossil wikis: http://whiki.wanderinghorse.net/ that one can be made to understand essentially any wiki dialect for which there is a client-side text-to-html converter (e.g. in JavaScript, assuming a web client). (It can in fact support any number of formats in the same wiki instance.) i experimentally had it using markdown at one point, but i don't personally use that syntax.
