You are so right, Joel.  But don't overlook the fact that in this particular
case, if the neighbors were not following the erroneous advice of Mass
Audubon -- which hates swans and wants them dead -- these birds would not be
getting lured into areas where they ingest trash.  Left alone they will stay
on the water where none of this danger occurs.

Just so the irony doesn't get overlooked, let me summarize the issue here on
Framingham's ponds: based on lethal advice from Mass Audubon, swan lovers
are inadvertently killing the swans.

Over the years I have provided Audubon with documentation that their
information about swans is wrong but they have chosen to ignore it since the
only debate going on among them is whether to shoot the swans, break their
necks or scramble their eggs so that the babies won't hatch.  And it's these
people who my neighbors turn to for advice.
