I think you can connect if you have an Android account from an authorised
Android device.

I understand this isn't the best place to discuss how to get the Market
given that it's used to install primarily proprietary software, so I won't
continue further questions. I'll have to try F-Droid. After living in free
software world for so long, it does feel very ... I don't know ... "icky"
being in the Android Market where all the free apps are either displaying
ads, trying to sell you in-app purchases, or trying to upsell you to buy
the full version. Oh, and asking for access to your location and contact
list.
