Follow-up Comment #1, bug #19711 (project freeciv):

Where did you used to 'set default_tileset_name="hex2t"'? That's not a server
option.

To diagnose this further I need to understand a bit better exactly what you're
experiencing. When you say "each hex cell has 8 neighbours", are you saying
you see hex-shaped tiles but all move directions you enter on the numeric
keypad move units? Or are you seeing square-shaped tiles?

In general, you need to make the server-side topology and client-side tileset
match each other, and Freeciv isn't as helpful as it could be in ensuring
that's the case.
