AUGOS crashes with low EMM values somewhere below 2M and it needs a slowdown program for any PC above approximately a 30Mhz 80486. I don't see the memory requirement as a bug with EMM386 unless there is evidence presented that it is at fault.
Actually, I can't crash AUGOS anymore in testing, with fixed EMM= values ranging from 600K up to 2M, even with values that used to crash before changes. So maybe it uses EMS -- which I doubt -- or it has an environment-specific bug, or the problem is intermittent or .... any of a thousand possibilities.
