You might want to upgrade your knowledge a bit. Since PC/MS-DOS 2.0, 
FCBS are only for backwards compatibility still around. FCBS were the 
way to access files in PC/MS-DOS 1.x, similar (but not compatible) to 
the way it was done in CP/M.
DOS 2.0 was in fact the first one that used Unix (Xenix ;-) ) style file 
handles.
