Hi Jerome,

Glad you agree to have a discussion about a larger
partition size for the lite USB image.

No. I suggest that lite should contain BASE plus selected
parts of other categories, while full should contain larger
parts of the other categories. The latter based on that poll
a while ago, plus the recent discussion about (not so big)
things which deserve an upgrade from "bonus" to "full". The
former based on a possible new poll, or on using some sort
of formula using our old poll in context of package size :-)

The installer itself should give users choices such as:

- install everything from all categories (as far as it
is present on the install disk)

- use or omit selected categories as a whole

- use or omit packages individually in advanced mode

So yes, you could argue that because it is easy for the
user to say "everything" or "base only" with the help of
the first two choice areas, "lite" will become similar
to "full" in the sense of having some freedom of choice.

But in practice, I expect the users to often select the
first option: EVERYTHING on the install medium. Which
will be larger with "full" and smaller with "lite" :-)

Of course it might need another round of polling to ask
the people here what apart from "base" would be cool to
have in "lite". Still, I think "only base" is TOO BARREN
given that people rarely have any USB disks below 32 or
64 MB and (importantly) given that in my opinion, the
partition of the install medium should be that size and
should not be squeezed into 16 MB just because 16 MB is
technically possible, even when it is not really useful.

So even when you say a new poll is too much work, I do
still ask you to make the lite install image 32-64 MB,
even when it only contains the classic "all of base".

Thanks! Eric
