When run in advanced mode, the installer will run FDIMPLES which returns the user modified list of packages back to the installer. It is what FDIMPLES was originally created to do. That’s why it’s called the FreeDOS Installer My Package List Editor Software. :-) The post initial install stuff was added because it was too useful to just leave in advanced mode. Did you know FDIMPLES has a 3rd mode of operation where it can permanently adjust the installation package lists for BASE and FULL on the USB stick. Allowing easy customization of which packages get installed for repeat installs. Did you know that post install, you can run FDIMPLES and make a bunch of additions or removals. But.. Before you apply those changes, you can export a “mod” list? The “mod” list is not a complete list. It is a list of how your choices deviate from what was installed. Just a + or - on specific package changes. — The package survey is ongoing and self-adjusting. For example, the addition of the Drivers group and moving packages into there came after the survey had been up for a while. Also, as decisions on specific packages are made. Like excluding this or that, those defaults will change automatically. New packages arrive, they’ll just show up in there. However, I do need to add support for the Bonus CD and a couple other minor things. I’ll probably do that sometime this coming week. I’m kinda busy right now on other things. One thing I was thinking about… It seems to me that for the most part, that the overall consensus is BASE should not have things removed and should always continue to replicate MSDOS functionality. Even utilities that have little use nowadays should remain. If I’m correct on that, then having the survey ask what should be part of base isn’t useful. Instead maybe it should ask about a LiteUSB BASE+ install instead. > > _______________________________________________ > Freedos-devel mailing list > Freedos-devel@lists.sourceforge.net > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-devel _______________________________________________ Freedos-devel mailing list Freedos-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-devel
