Hi Jim,

sure, we can keep "each category is entirely on one CD", so:

   - move sqlite, maybe to devel?

Agreed.

Good.

   - let fancymines use gif or jpeg

That would be nice.

 :-)

   - move doom and, unless using gif, fancymines to BONUS

I think the games should all stay together... on the LiveCD.

As you like.

   - make curl smaller or move it to BONUS

Making curl smaller would be nice.

Turns out that what makes CURL 35 MB big are the sources,
in particular the "test" subdirectories of TWO versions
of OpenSSL: Both 1.1.1m and 1.1.1t are included :-p

If you strip the "test" and "tests" directories of both
OpenSSL versions and mbedTLS, drop 1 OpenSSL version and
then AdvZIP the embedded SOURCES.ZIP, you save 20 MB :-)

(a pure binary package would even be only 2 MB, because
the binaries in the package already were UPXed anyway)

   - consider moving net to BONUS?

I am "on the fence" with moving Net to the BonusCD.

I guess we could keep it on the Live CD :-)

   - keep archivers in live cd :-)

I would keep those, too, though. Only 7zip is big AND good.

Boot is small, but I have two issues...

While Syslinux is a bit large, it may be good to be
able to make updates ISOs from within the Live CD.

   - keep A BIT of devel in live cd :-)

I disagree. I think it confuses things for non-technical users
In a related thought we could save A LOT by moving
the embedded package sources of everything to Bonus.
We could easily have ALL packages on one binary CD.

   - keep edit in live cd :-)
   - consider moving vim to BONUS?

I disagree. ... we should keep packages in a group together

Then I suggest to keep them on the Live CD, but still
wonder what makes VIM larger and better than ELVIS.

   - add fltk to gui :-)

I'm not much of a fan of GUIs on FreeDOS, these days.

It would be nice for those people who show up from time
to time saying "DOS is nicely simple, why not port modern
office to it?" because FLTK already did exactly that :-)

   - add vsbhda and/or sbemu to sound!

I think it would be nice to include some kind of virtual SoundBlaster

 :-)

... I think "vsbhda and/or sbemu" belong in Drivers

Good question, I am undecided on that.

   - keep sound in live cd :-)

Media players are a good way to show that DOS can be modern.

   - keep unix in live cd ;-)

The unix category does not take much space.

   - move clam antivirus with db to BONUS!

If you ask me, it is mostly a waste of space to add at all.

   - keep util in live cd :-)

That category also is both small and quite useful WITHOUT ClamAV.
It has DOS extenders, dosfsck, Fox stuff, test tools, slowdown,
v8 tools, partitioning tools, file recovery and a lot more :-)

You could compare ClamAV to DJGPP: While it has some use, it
almost needs a CD for itself ;-)

Regards, Eric
