Based on this email thread, here is what I have done in preparation for T2410. While this is not everything discussed in this thread, I think it is the more important items. We are only a few days away from the next interim build and this is all the restructuring I really have time for at the moment. After T2410 is reviewed, we may decide more changes are in order.
GitLab, moved SQLITE from APPS to DEVEL group. IBIBLIO Latest/Unstable Repository moved SQLITE from APPS to DEVEL. FD.LOD.BZ Repository moved SQLITE from APPS to DEVEL. Downloaded SBEMU & VSBHDA packages from FD.LOD.BZ. Added SBEMU & VSBHDA packages to IBIBLIO Latest/Unstable repository in Drivers Group. Made temporary projects for SBEMU & VSBHDA visible on GitLab. Verified no changes required to X86_ALL.LST (Floppy Installer package list). Verified no changes required to PKG_HYDR.LST (Boot portion that brings up the LiveCD environment). Verified no changes required to PKG_FDI.LST (Stuff required to run the installer). Verified no changes required to PKG_BASE.LST (FreeDOS BASE packages). Verified no immediate changes needed to PKG_FULL.LST (FreeDOS FULL Install Packages). Coming back to this. Commented out DEVEL/UPX in PKG_LIVE.LST (Packages made Live on LiveCD). Commented out all packages in PKG_XTRA.LST (Packages included on LiveCD which are not installed as part of BASE or FULL. If a package is part of FDI or LIVE it will still be included.) Removed all packages not in BOOT, GUI or DEVEL group from BONUS0.LST (Packages on the Bonus CD). Changed group of SQLITE on BONUS0.LST. Added VSBHDA & SBEMU to PKG_FULL.LST. Build a private Test Interim Release “T2409b" to see where things stand. Typo correction. Build Test Release “T2409b". :^] Build Successful, Legacy ISO 283Mb, Live ISO 320Mb, Bonus ISO 305Mb Test times prior to adding packages to FULL… LiveCD Boot 8.25 seconds. FULL package install (no sources) 97 Seconds. Installed 242,253,007 bytes. FDIMPLES check… Only a couple Utility packages present but not installed. FLASHROM, LISTPCI, LISTVESA, RAREAD & RAWRITE were explicitly made live in the PKG_LIVE.LST but not part of Full. Commented them out of the PKG_LIVE.LST (for now). Compare installed packages to Available GitLab Packages. Including items in FULL that are not part of the BonusCD or previously determined to be excluded for the release entirely. There are some packages (like net\ping) which are duplicate functionality provided by other programs (like MTCP’s ping). We should probably remove some of those (like picosntp) from the release media. Along with those, maybe a few others like PASSWORD should only be provided through the Download Repository. Typo corrections. Create Interim Test Build T2409c. Build Successful. Legacy ISO 343Mb, Live ISO 380Mb, Bonus ISO 305Mb. Post changes test times: LiveCD Boot 7 seconds. FULL package install (no sources) 132 seconds. 295,983,757 bytes installed. Obviously, the boot and install times are very system specific. But, when everything except BOOT, DEVEL and GUI are on the LiveCD and Everything on the CD is installed with FULL, it takes about 25% longer to install. As you see, I did not create a new group and move vital utilities like V8Power or any other programs into it. No additional packages were made Live when booting the LiveCD. I also did not move the other Utilities or Unix like tools to the Bonus CD. We may still want to do that. We may also want to remove some less popular packages that duplicate functionality. We may also want to break up the Utilities Group into more specific groups. But for now, I think this is good for the upcoming T2410. I still hope to find time to incorporate at least a couple updates to some packages from the list Willi sent me. Also, there a some issues Berki wanted me to look into from nearly a month back. :-) Jerome
