hi!

i must admit that i know too less about FD memory management, so this is only a hint, remove "noems" option and rc 2 works fine on rc2 vmware. tested.

as i have already tried to explain, removing "NOEMS" will only let
the emm386 driver use some ex-UMB 64k memory area as EMS 3.2 page
frame. so if you previously got crashes, because emm386 used some
problematic memory area for UMB, you will INSTEAD get crashes as
soon as apps using EMS will do something with the page frame. so
you do not FIX the problem, you only let it happen LESS often :-p

however, this seems to depend on which jemmex version is used!

that means that the new version may consider different memory
areas as usable than the old version. maybe somebody with the
affected vmware version could compare MEM output and JEMMEX
startup messages (use the VERBOSE option!) to find out where
exactly those differences are. thank you :-)

regards, eric

ps: people should NOT use I=TEST in default settings. only use
that one after testing whether it works on the specific computer.
same for other i=... options. on some cpu,

not sure about whether nocheck, nohi, nopge, noinvlpg, sb, emx,
split, vme and x=test are good or bad for "one size fits all"
configs, but i would assume fewer explicit options are better:

fewer options = more automated correct choices by emm386 drivers.
same for types of memory detection, a20 control, boot style.
