License evilness. Better to have the EDR DOS style hack for files above 4 GB file size than "that". I think some hacks even support 128 kB and to be honest, I would prefer a cache which joins I/O to chunks of 64, 128, 256... kB over having huge cluster sizes, because the latter means wasting a lot of space if you have many small files. You can say space is cheap today but you still lose performance in the further seek unless of course you have a SSD instead of a harddisk.
