On Monday I'm going to visit some PC shops which sells old hardware. Is there any tips about those ISA soundblaster cards? Which model, manufacturer, etc.?
Thanks in advance!

I have only used the basic SB models, i.e. those without wavetable synthesis as on e.g. the AWE64. The AWE64 Gold is probably the highest-end ISA model, but I have never used one so I don't know what the situation is with drivers, Plug & Play manager software, and such.

If you want to use unpowered speakers, you might want to get a card with a built-in amplifier (it should have a "dial" to control the volume on the card near the input and output jacks).

Wikipedia has a nice article detailing the history of the SoundBlaster: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SoundBlaster
