That tek-tips link is very interesting because it shows the *exact*
error I quoted, but the person reported the problem with Win98. Here's
the quoted post from the forum (2002):

:: I'm running Windows 98 and have loaded paradox 4.5.
:: When I've tried to run the program I get the following message.
::
:: Unexpected condition: GP 0000 at Paradox:28:1323
:: leaving Paradox.
::
:: Any help would be appreciated.

And to compare, that's the same message I got:
> Unexpected condition: GP 0000 AT PARADOX:28:1323 -- Leaving Paradox

So it seems clear this is not a FreeDOS issue, but a Paradox issue.
One person recommends this solution:

> paradox.exe -extk 15630 -emk 0 c:\pdox\start.sc

Another recommends this:

> C:\PDOX45\PARADOX.EXE EXTK 16000

And another user recommends this:

> c:\pdox45\paradox -norealheap
