Oh..one more thought.
Might the cd rom be considered an a drive, instead of the d?
Just a suggestion.

Hi there,
A couple of questions that might help.
given freedos is running virtually, which drive is it on?
second, which drive is firmly the external cd rom, where the game is located?
At least according to freedos?
This next one may take an answer from someone else.
When I have an item in my cd rom drive, my machine still has a real one <wink> that drive becomes the last option in the drive sequience, in my case i:\ so I can type dir -b i:\ to confirm that the cd I am checking has content and so forth.
How does one locate the final drive letter in freedos?
Hope you get your game on,

 hey y'all,
so i'm a nerd and wanted to revisit Mortal Kombat 2 on PC, so I got an
external CD-ROM drive (working with a recent Lenovo that unsurprisingly
doesn't come with one), and I installed FreeDOS on VirtualBox, per the
instructions in the video on y'all's website. I've got FreeDOS running,
 but
whereas the instruction manual for the game says basically "switch from C:
to D: and when you're there, type INSTALL then hit enter," but instead of
the Mortal Kombat II Installation Program (c) I just get...
Bad command or filename - "INSTALL".
Anybody able to help make a young boy's nostalgic & bloody wish come true?
 Many thanks in advance.
