This should be: ldapsearch -xLLL -D "cn=directory manager" -W -b dc=prod,dc=exampled.dc=com uid=passync You also want to check that this user is properly set according to this page: http://www.freeipa.org/page/PasswordSynchronization I think we do hat automatically when the agreement is created, but checking won't hurt.
