Dear Dimitry,
what you write is certainly not true: for example, you have the right to
publish versions.
Even more: we had a long talk how to organize the design changes with
Eric (we agreed to postpone it etc.), and
therefore I particularily don't understand your complaints.
But, I know, that you have problems with the project setup for a long
time. Moreover, we seem to have contradictionary ideas of design.
Your new project offers the possibility for you to begin with a clean
code base, on which you can try to implement your ideas.
Thus, I support your idea in the following ways:
* tell us the name of the new project, and I'll have a look at it
regularily,
* announce your new versions here, too (i.e. in this developer-mailing
list), and
* you can still discuss the design with me, but in greater detail only
after 0.9.0.
On the long run, we discuss the merge.

Dear Dan,
creating of the fork is not a goal, but only one of the many ways to
solve the problems described in the first mail:
In the current setting of the project I can develop new features on my
own branch, but I can not do some other important things:
* I am not allowed to publish the newly developed features in the source
forge file download section and react to the user wishes,
* I am not allowed to change the freemind architecture which I would
really like to do,
* I am not allowed to hire new developers and build a regularly
communicating team for developing of the new versions, and consequently
I have to do everything solo,
I am substantially open to other possible solutions. You and Chris have
mentioned that I am free to develop and to contribute to the FreeMind.
Now I need a possibility to share both the results and the efforts of
the contributions with other people. It would be great if I could do it
inside the FreeMind project. And now only you and Chris can decide about
it.
Best regards, Dimitry
Dear Dimitry,
I assume that your announcement of your intention to create a fork of
FreeMind project is based on differences in opinion between you and
Christian Foltin.
If this assumption is wrong, I wonder why you announce your intention to
fork FreeMind project now, at the time at which I am finally free to
quit FreeMind project, released from my promise to be the project
director; at the time at which I am about to actually quit FreeMind project.
I also fail to understand how your email is related to the subject
title, which is "Vision for the second project". From reading the email,
I would assume that a more telling subject title would be "Intention to
fork FreeMind project". Anyway.
Best regards,
Dan
FreeMind director
