Customers are.

But suppliers/vendors are not, reliably.

Open Source protects the customer/user against commercial
discontinuity.

I suspect the US position of suppliers of being a few years behind the
UK one, and catching up so rapidly it will soon overtake.

Don't confuse loyalty with its reciprocation or with safety.
