Which is why libtool exists. It abstracts all of the OS weirdness into one simple API. Unfortunately, this doesn't work on MAC OSX, because the OS itself is broken. > 2) OS X is not Linux. > 3) Most FR development is done on Linux I regularly use NetBSD & Solaris. No problems there. This says to me that the dynamic linking problem is not FreeRADIUS, but MAC OSX. But does this matter to blow-hards? Nope. > 4) Mike says he knows how to build OS X apps with Dynamic Linking That's nice for him. Many other people say that they don't have a problem with OpenSSL in applications other than FreeRADIUS, and it must be the fault of FreeRADIUS when 'ld.so' complains about "symbol not found". The fact that they've installed 2-3 incompatible versions of OpenSSL, and don't know how to configure or use their linker, isn't their fault, it MUST be FreeRADIUS. > It would be nice if there was less sniping about development issues > in the users forum. It would be nice if people without a clue didn't say that they know more about the software than the developers. But that's too much to hope for. People with the strongest of opinions very often have no evidence to back up those opinions, no experience in the field, and are determined to avoid all evidence and experience. They then complain that the developers are being mean, when they're told they're wrong, and that they should shut up and go away. If people like that were paying me to do technical support, I'd return their money, and tell them they're too stupid to use the product. Alan DeKok. - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe?
