There are systems using FreeRADIUS with millions of users.

We hope some time in the next few months.

Cistron: simple, good for small installations
           easier to configure than FreeRADIUS
  OpenRADIUS: very configurable and flexible
GNU Radius: it just confuses me
FreeRADIUS: fast, complex, people answering questions bluntly on the list.

Of them all, FreeRADIUS has the most features, and supports the most
authentication methods. This can make it complicated to configure,
but with a step-by-step approach, that complexity can be safely tackled.
