Most "awards" are industry awards. i.e. trade shows, magazines, etc. Since FreeRADIUS doesn't entger trade shows, or buy advertising space in magazines, it doesn't win awards. It doesn't even get included in magazine comparisons of RADIUS servers, because the commercial vendors threaten to pull their advertising dollars if FreeRADIUS is mentioned in an article. i.e. As a RADIUS server, FreeRADIUS is significantly better than many, many commercial servers. Most people using FreeRADIUS aren't interested in publicising the fact. But I do know of a number of startups who are using FreeRADIUS as part of their product suite.
