Just a note on lirc -- there is no way to get it to work and install unless you do a kernel recompile. (please correct me if I'm wrong) All the RPMS, DEB files, etc just don't cut the mustard. I had success with using RedHat 9, recompiling the kernel (the only thing I changed in setup was to optimize for i686), installing the new kernel, then lirc compiles and installs without a problem. NOTE: make sure you do NOT have the lirc RPM installed, or calling the lircd daemon will call the wrong instance. I think that if for no other reason, projects like www.freevix.org are great because they can include lirc kernel modules by default. I really wish that the movix project was a bit more compatible with freevo (the author has looked I guess, and there are some caveats) because movix does a great job of hardware detection across a wide variety of systems. movix + freevo would be quite the killer app/distro. Perhaps someday. :) -Shawn -- Shawn Powers Technology Director Inland Lakes Schools 231-238-6868 x174 http://techcorner.inland.k12.mi.us ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.NET email is sponsored by: eBay Great deals on office technology -- on eBay now!
