Ahh, didn't know about that, will also try and give that a shot this
weekend. Working on the system is hard because its our main TV and I
don't want to miss recordings :) I'm also still on 1.6, waiting for the
1.7 stream to settle down a bit before upgrading. If it does work I will
try and add something to the wiki about it as this would be a major help
on the usability of the system.

Its not really "rewind" though is it? its very frustrating if you miss
something to have to skip back 5 minutes, then fast forward through it
all to get to the bit you actually wanted to watch. I see this sort of
thing as a big issue with usability and uptake of something like freevo
by normal users. I realise its an mplayer and xine limitation, just very
frustrating ;)

Is this something that might change with Freevo 2.0? i.e. if freevo
takes control of the stream that is being fed to the player?

Unfortunately I need to use xine as its the only player that I can get
to work and do hardware accelerated playback on my via EPIA system. I
have tried very hard to get a working mplayer but no luck, given the low
CPU power I need all the help I can get, my current system I can play
video using only 10% CPU. Maybe I need to have another shot at mplayer.

As above, using xine is my only choice atm. Also for DVD playback I
thought that mplayer doesn't handle menu's properly?

I thought I had tried that... will try again, that could well be "user
error"!

Shame really, would be a very nice feature, I guess it makes the
implementation harder as it requires extra info to be put in the fxd
file, as well as adding the ability to schedule a recording.

Thank you all for your feedback, I will try this all out and report back :)
